You are to be admired for tilting at Benes' windmill, John, with actual NY City facts no less! But Ken won't listen, and neither will the rest of the Ken's of this world until it is THEIR ox that is gored.
900 systems, and they've decided that we the people think too many things are important so they lopped of 827 of those systems? Starting at "worked hard on 911 and re-written 73 of those procedures." WOW, AM I IMPRESSED. NOT!!!!
Would someone like to explain to me why it is so damned important to reach the "police, fire, or medical" when it is ones neighbor, mother, son/daughter, friend that we are concerned about? When will society get it that WE are the "they" that everyone is trying to get ahold of? That we are each other's backup system, NOT IBM's idea of important nor 911's "police, fire, or medical?"
Just your luck, Ken doesn't live in NY and need to place a 911 call anytime soon.
But when his lumber doesn't show up, and his buildings don't have heat, and his electrical contractor is standing in a soup line or selling apples... THEN maybe Ken will notice Y2K is serious. Only problem then, tho', is he won't be able to find that sassy IBM engineer who was busy firewalling, (or was it stonewalling) Ken and telling him what Ken wanted to hear.
Oh, well....<sigh> You tried...again<g>
