I understand what you say, I just think its a marketing technique designed to suck away schwab investors from schwab.

1) You the underwriter tell schwab they will get some shares for IPO purposes.
2) schwab tells their investors
3) investors sign up
4) u notify schwab none will be given to them.
5) schwab tells their investors
6) schwab's investors move assets to the UL company
7) schwab shares go down... etc.
