I disagree. You are saying that there was an overall objective, but yet there were many different and diverse groups represented. The vast number of demonstrators propelled this obscure meeting into international focus. Bravo to the demonstrators!

But, the criminal activities of a few damaged the good causes of the many, and put their causes on the back burner. Now, instead of discussing the different causes and complaints, all that is discussed is the violence. This means that the demonstrators have lost whatever initiative that they had at the beginning, while the world's attention has turned the spotlight on the thugs.

Personally, I don't really think that the demonstrations are aimed at the WTO, but at the representatives of the world's nations, who sacrifice clean air, water and the world's children for profit.
