The difference in power output between CDMA and GSM is quite substantial, on the order of 5 times more for GSM, and an even bigger difference for analog.
At this point in time publicizing CDMA advantages in this regard probably just brings the matter more to public attention. This could change. I remember when that was true about autos, and now safety features are a selling point.
From a scientific point of view, using a CDMA phone doesn't sound very risky. The radiation is non ionizing and at very low levels. That won't keep the crazy's from attacking it (after they get back from Seattle and take off their turtle costumes) Liberals out there - just joking.
