Hello Victor,

From what I gather, the audio/video streaming technology is part of NetWare 5.1. They have a component of the OS called NetWare Multimedia Server for MPEG, AVI and MP3 files.

News Flash:
Novell Readies NetWare 5.1 for Prime Time

On the heels of NetWare 5's first anniversary, Novell announces a facelift to this premier operating system with NetWare 5.1. Although on the covers, it doesn't appear too different, what's inside is an Internet-Ready, application development platform. With NDS 8 as the directory engine by default, NetWare 5.1 will scale to over a billion objects!
With an HTTPenabled kernel, a network administrator can the server from a browser. The NetWare Management Portal provides an administrator with secure access to running server status, health, identification of server problems, and server setting configurations.

NetWare 5.1 includes a 5-user version of Oracle8i and Oracle WebDB to help companies Web-enable their SQL databases, a critical requirement as more organizations embrace the power and promise of e-business. Equally important to the promise of e-business is the ability to build and deploy high-end Web applications, and NetWare 5.1 is making that easier too with the inclusion of the NetWare version of IBM's WebSphere version 3 Standard Edition application server (now in beta). WebSphere provides the backbone for enterprise-strength Web applications. With support for Java servlets, Java server pages, XML, and, in future editions, Enterprise Java beans, WebSphere for NetWare will enable organizations to deploy e-commerce and e-business solutions with a standards-based infrastructure.

More tools included in NetWare 5.1 allow you to create a full-featured high-performance, Web-based network server:
- NetWare Enterprise Web Server for fast, reliable content hosting
- NetWare News Server for threaded discussion groups.
- NetWare FTP Server for file downloads
- NetWare Multimedia Server for audio and watch video feeds over the network in WAV, MP3, and RM file formats
- NetWare Web Search Server for easy searching across all your company's Web sites

So what does the industry think? Well, Novell won the Best of Comdex award for NetWare 5.1!! See the details at
zdnet.com

NetWare 5.1 public beta can be ordered for $15 at
novell.com and is due to ship in early 2000 - likely before the "other" 2000 product!
