Gary, Coms has never really competed on a major level in the router market, so their position as 4th, 10th or 100th is of no import. The BOD has continually emphasized that in the past they have left the router market to Cisco. This should have little or no effect on 3Com's earnings, which I predict to be stellar. Why don't we ask ourselves what % of 3Com's revenues are generated from ROUTERS, this will answer and enlighten the members of this thread as to the ramifications of this statistic from the Cahner's In-Stat Group. Since my last post 3Com has registered another 12 patents pertaining to the emerging markets. Between 98-99 Patents Registered 3Com 100 Csco 75 Cash reserves for both companies - approx. $2 Billion PE's 3Com 33 Csco 153 Market Capitalization (Price of company) 3Com $14 Billion Csco $310 Billion Brand recognition 3Com wins by a mile! Global reach 3Com wins by two miles! Diversity 3Com wins by 1000 miles Value 3Com wins by 1,000,000 miles Wireless 3Com better positioned Broadband 3Com is the current leader Future Awesome Palm Csco - stands in envy! World leader in PDA market, virtually has a total monopoly on the OS in this field. Just recently humbled the largest capitalized company, Msft. 3Com stands to add another $10+ Billion dollars to its market cap. after the IPO, which is close to $30 above its current stock price.
