Interliant Web Hosting Group to Provide Customers with Latest in Web Authoring and Multimedia Innovations

PURCHASE, N.Y., Dec 1, 1999 (BUSINESS WIRE) --

Support for New Tools from RealNetworks
and Trellix Corp. Allows Interliant Customers
to Easily Create Content Rich, Interactive Web Sites

In a move to give small- and medium-sized businesses access to the
latest innovations in Web authoring and multimedia technologies,
Interliant, Inc. (NASDAQ:INIT), a leading application service provider
(ASP), today announced support for Trellix Web 2.5 and RealSystem(R) G2
Server from RealNetworks(R). Combined, these new Interliant offerings
enable both novice and more experienced Web site authors to
effortlessly create or enhance their online presence. Trellix Web 2.5
is the latest version of Trellix(R)'s popular Web site creation tool
designed to let small businesses and consumers create and publish
professional, multi-page Web sites in under an hour. RealSystem G2
Server is the award-winning streaming media delivery system that
enables the incorporation and synchronized delivery of multiple media
types into a single presentation.

"With a base of more than 100,000 hosted Web sites, Interliant is one
of the largest providers of hosting services and key to helping us
extend our reach to small and medium sized business customers," said
Don Bulens, president and CEO of Trellix Corporation. "By making it
easy for the average small business to create and maintain its own Web
site, Interliant and Trellix help small businesses provide its
customers with the latest news, special offers or helpful supporting
information."

Trellix Web 2.5 will offer several new features to Interliant Web
hosting customers. First-time Web builders can use the Trellix Web
Wizard to create a dynamic Web site through a simple fill-in-the-blanks
process. With Trellix Web Gems (TM), Interliant customers can easily
enhance their Web sites with impressive features such as maps, search
capabilities and affiliate links to online merchants. Trellix Web 2.5
also offers One-Step Publish(TM) allowing customers to instantly
register with Interliant hosting services and automatically publish or
update their Web sites in one simple integrated process, eliminating
the complexity usually associated with Web site publishing.

"Multimedia capabilities are an increasingly essential element to a Web
presence," said Ben Rotholtz, general manager, Media Systems,
RealNetworks, Inc. "With Interliant's support of our RealSystem G2
Server, Interliant customers will be able to deliver a compelling and
engaging experience for their Web audience."

RealSystem G2 Server allows Interliant customers to incorporate
multiple media types -- audio, video, text and graphics -- into one
presentation using the industry standard Synchronized Multimedia
Integration Language (SMIL), the first markup language designed
specifically for presentation of Web multimedia. Users can generate
highly effective and expressive multimedia presentations to enhance
their Web sites. In addition, because RealSystem G2 enables highly
efficient use of bandwidth and network resources, Web-based multimedia
performs well in a virtual hosting environment.

"We are committed to providing our customers, both small and large,
cutting-edge Web technologies from leading innovators like RealNetworks
and Trellix Corporation," said Jim Lidestri, president of Interliant.
"With these technologies, our customers, regardless of their technical
expertise, can easily create dynamic and attention-grabbing Web sites
that meet their needs. Depending on their goal, developers can use
these technologies to do anything from creating a simple Web presence
to generating a sophisticated multimedia site."

RealSystem G2 and Trellix Web 2.5 are now available to Interliant Web
hosting customers. Interested customers may download Trellix Web free
of charge - a $69 value - at, www.sagenetworks.com/trellixpromo.
