Okay, I'll call you a skeptic.

This demonstration/protest has been being planned for many months. The AFL-CIO march was planned months in advance. The Direct Action Network office was opened many months ago. I don't know what the AFL-CIO, DAN, Sierra Club, etc. did to inform their members, but 30,000 people don't decide to show up in just two weeks. Even a relatively small protest can take weeks to organize; this one was huge.

The WTO has been a focus of concern by labor and environmental groups for years. Look at the demonstrations in Geneva at the last meeting.

I think the vast majority of the citizens who were there were more informed than you give them credit for. From my experience, the three friends of mine who went had been planning the trip for some time, and were well informed on the issues. So from my experience, 100% of the protesters were well informed.

I'm sure there were some who didn't understand the issues, but the vast majority of the protestors were there for good reason, and were as appalled and upset by the violence as anybody, because it distracted attention from the very real issues.
