So true on the "Powers" films. I had actually seen the first of the two awhile ago. Enjoyed parts of it, but generally did not take to it. Same with the second film. The rap scene is the funniest scene in the film, perhaps followed by the tent scene.

I finally saw "Babette's Feast." Quite an excellent film. Elegant, clever, a rarity in that it wastes nothing, is overwrought in no place and does not rely on tastelessness so nauseatingly frequent in American films. Despite its subtly one can feel (taste?) a remarkably intense undertow, and I think that sort of sensitivity in a film is very rare. Ste'phane Audran - exceptional.

I also saw "Meet Joe Black" because of Tony Hopkins. A bit strained with all the empty (and fake) philosophising. Lightweight, but at times entertaining. I hate sex scenes and, of course skipped the scene in this film. This is the sort of thing that ruins a film for me. Sex is such a clich‚ in films now, and it is a shame. It is as if virtually all producers sit in their offices trying to think of the best place to put the required sex scene. "Lets just put it here. The audience will wanna see it someplace, so we'll just put it here. That'll keep everyone interested." Brad Pitt was surprisingly good. I did not think he could act at all.

I think it was Rodney Dangerfield who said "Me? With a guy? Hehe. Nevahappen! Well-- maybe with Brad Pitt."

Gotta run.
