MG, Re: Buttons and Levers

or Push me, Pull you!

Make no mistake about it, I firmly embrace the capitalistic system. Further, if I were Bill Gates, I would seriously consider buying an island somewhere, establish the Republic of Microsoft, and tell Billy's DOJ where to go!

If I were a corporate CEO, why would I want to put up with Gore's environmental extremism, a joke of a legal system, antiquated labor rules, etc., etc. It is a Big world.

Further, this is a Republic and not a Democracy. As a Republic, it represents IMHO, the tyranny of the minority. Clearly, "we" look at technology as our edge, while the "third" world countries look as labor as their advantage. Hard to reconcile the two.

Let me provide a personal example. Our youngest son is getting more independent and my bride is trying to re-enter the workforce. She has an Associates Degree in secretarial science. As many others, in a very short period of time, the world has past her by. She can type a wicked letter on one of those classic Selectrics and probably could even do some short hand. Skills that were abolished about 15 years ago.

Actually, it's her own fault. We've had computers in the house since 1981, both sons consider them a toy, and she had every opportunity to find a way to incorporate them into her life. That said, she took the college class with our youngest son this past summer, and is moving into the "age" real fast. However, she's not a happy camper and she votes!

Finally, being a third generation type, I have no problem with the concept of immigration. However, I do believe that we teach our schools in English, and require that these folks produce!
