Hello,
I'm a frequent lurker and infrequent poster. Currently I'm long COMS including some Jan '00 call LEAPS (or they were LEAPS when I bought them and then they became dead money for a while).

I think you both tend to make useful and cogent points, but it is obvious that you are both completely biased and entrenched in your views.

I would like to respond to two of the items that you both address. The first you disagree on, the brand recognition question:

3. Brand Recognition: It helps in product sales to consumers not to ISP's, IXC's, LEC's, or Large Enterprises. Carriers don't care... and Cisco does not sell to consumers - this is an apples and oranges argument... Move on.

I completely disagree. ISP's, IXC's, LEC's, or Large Enterprises don't buy products. Companies don't buy. People buy. Brand recognition will always be important to product sales. That is so long as the meaning of the brand is consistent with the product being sold.

My next point is a very simple one. You both seem to agree that COMS is the better value play vs. CSCO.

6. Value: We have agreed on this for months now.

Isn't value of the stock the most fundamental question? Doesn't the value of the stock integrate or aggregate all other items. If you agree that COMS is the better value, most of your other arguments are not very important at this time.

Again, definitely not wanting to start a flame thread. I'll probably return to lurking.
