Yes, I use the difference between a 3 period MA of highs and lows as the box size. It calculates the size when the chart is opened and keeps that box size for the rest of the time the window is around. I used to keep adjusting the box size but that was disconcerting when the box size changed while one was looking at a chart. Now I just calculate it once. It gives me a good idea of what the box size should be when I am looking at new things that I don't know much about like the SP9Z :-). Sometimes it comes up with a good number but I never actually accept the value and instead I modify it to what I think is a better number for humans (usually some multiple of 5) since it is frequently humans that trade these things and we seem to count in 5s except you who seem to do it in 4s :-)
