It is obvious that the Posse Comitatus Act was written in order to prevent continued abuse from using the military to enforce Federal Law outside of other law enforcement agencies.
That means for some 80+ years before that act, Federal Troops could and were used to that extent.
What part of that historical observation did you not understand?
I'm a FIRM BELIEVER in Posse Comitatus, especially since at one point in my military career, I actually performed temporary duty while assigned to a federal law enforcement agency. I know of minor abuses that took place, like soldiers assisting Federal Agents to carry out search warrants, and finding evidence that the Agents would not have found (because they were pretty savvy troops). In this case, it was a cache of video tapes chock full of Kiddie Porn hidden under a floor board.
I also know of circumstances where soldiers were found to be using their access to Law Enforcement info systems to alledgedly tip off criminals who were under investigation or surveillance. I also personally know that officials of the BATF/FBI lied to National Guard officers in charge of approving military support to the Waco Seige. They used the false pretext that drug manufacturing was going on at the BD complex, thus opening up the eligibility for supporting that operation. I used to work for the guy who approved that military support.
In sum, like corrupt cops or politicians, there is good and bad in everyone. People lie to achieve what they want or need.
Btw, no one I ever served with every spoke openly of advocating the military once again becoming involved in enforcing the law.
Maybe it is you who need to review and retract.
