Interesting that it was planned and then didn't happen ... hard to know what to read into that. Given that it is Sun's agenda to prostelytize Java, cooperating with anyone on anything is probably to be expected, regardless of what they have as in-house tools, i.e., just because they now have NetBeans and SynerJ ... excuse me, FJEE, ... doesn't mean they are going to stop supporting other people's efforts to deliver Java tools, excepting the MS heresy, of course. As for having their own tools on Linux, I have the vague notion that the NetBeans (FJCE) is already there, isn't it. FJEE might take a while to get there, though since I don't think that will happen until the market is clearly there. Note, however, that with the AppServer morphing over to iPlanet, it is really the iAS availability on Linux which will control the deployment side. |
