I understand your disbelief, and your use of sarcasm, but the use of "Useful Fools" as Front Groups by the left is well documented, and the left has manuals written on how to do it.
You organize well-meaning people under a cause they believe in, get them to protest and demonstrate for what they want, and use the group to further your agenda.
When Stalin made a pact with Hitler, the front groups were used to "keep us out of war" . When Hitler attacked Stalin, they turned it around them around into "start a second front now!" groups.
Nowadays, every trade union, vegetarian, save the whales, no nukes, you name it, group has these same type of Socialists running them, attempting to run them, or infiltrated with them. The well meaning people involved will come and go, but the militant left is always there, working for their goals, and because of that, they end up in control.
