Are you sure? If you consider The Shorts are generally in for the short term a few days,weeks or months and on margin!

Where the Longs are more likely using less margin. There is a "patience factor" which is one the side of the Longs. Shorts generally want a quick sharp move. If it doesn't come they tend to cover and move on rather than continue to pay margin costs..

So the longer Rambus stays flat in price movement the more likely you will see Shorts begin to cover in frustration...
