That InGaAlP epilayer reminds me,

When Kopin got their initial venture funding back ~ 1984, one of the applications they were pushing was LED arrays for taillights. But it turned out to be all talk. Then they moved on to the next next big thing.

Hey, Bill Koch does their patent work for them!
