Larry,

I think CMGI's market cap is way over S&P's threshold. You don't need $40B to be there. When CTXS was included a few weeks ago, its market cap was only $6B.

My guess is that market cap matters until the number is larger enough. After that, stability and eanings growth potential weigh in the most. If you're right that S&P doesn't mind getting holding companies, I think CMGI has a shot much quicker than you have predicted.
