I admit it. I don't have much in the way of technical expertise. I read this thread and I read the AMD thread. I try to keep an open mind. It doesn't do my pocketbook any good if I believe in some bogus nonsense. So put it in perspective for me.

How much faster is the Athlon over the Pentium? Give me an example of some application (any kind) and give me the difference the processor speed has for the end user. Please be as specific as possible.

When you say that the Athlon Core is superior to the Pentium Core. What does that mean? How does this superiorty translate into some tangible difference (I'm assuming other than processing speed)?
