I sold my last NOVL position today. I have given up on the company. This might be the great contrary indicator and a likely sign that SUNW, IBM or whoever will step in and buy this mysterious company for 35-40. I have followed NOVL for several years, first buying it when IBM bought Lotus thinking that NOVL would be the next likely candidate. That was at 22 or so and many years ago. I have traded it, lost money, made money, been frustrated, been ecstatic, and finally, just figured I'd move on to more predictable pastures.
NOVL remains one of the most powerful and mismanaged collection of assets that i have ever seen. From their bungle with Wordperfect to their failure to capitalize on their premier presence in networking, to allowing themselves to get caught in the shadow of MSFT without a positive game plan to highlight their assets, I have just given up. good luck to all you with more patience than I. Though, I will admit, I am thinking of buying some Feb or May 2000 calls JUST IN CASE. Larry
