Linux lovers join forces for software battle
...In an interview yesterday, Cornell said he backs a claim made earlier this week by Corel chief executive Michael Cowpland that revenues from Linux products could quickly accelerate to reach the same point as sales of Windows-based products.

 "That's what we're hoping for. That's the target," he said. "This is such a rapidly changing marketplace. An erosion of the Microsoft world could happen very quickly."

 A study by International Data Corp. projects that the Linux desktop OS market could double in the next several years, from a 2.1% share to 4.7% by 2003.
