Mike,

I've been discussing HR with a few friends from an investment club I belong to. We already own a little of it. (I voted against). It has fallen so much recently that it has perked my interest. I looked at 6 stocks in the group. They are all yielding north of 10% and some have excellent long term records. The whole group is depressed, but for no reason I can put my finger on. The yield being higher than the earnings caught my attention too. But it doesn't seem too out of line. Value Line focuses on FFO (funds from operations). That's earnings + depreciation - capital gains from sales. So apparently, a lot of these guys are paying out the cash flow from depreciation. That spooks me, but I don't have any clue about the accounting.
