Is anyone else a little less confident in HDR than when they first saw the presentation.....especially in light of the following developments.

-Cisco has announced support for V-OFDM with lots of industry support. They also have indicated that they may be looking for industry partnerships with Nokia/Ericsson. No mention of the Q. This is especially disturbing since they participated in the first HDR trials.

-The other company in the first HDR trials (US West) is looking at fixed wireless access from Adaptive Broadband (not sure of the name). The only comment from a US West official on HDR seemed entirely negative.

-The next closest company to Qualcomm is likely Nortel (infrastructure partnership). The comments from their officials also seem uniformly negative.

-In the presentation someone indicated that Qualcomm had an overwhelming response to HDR (from industry). It must be application providers because it hasnt been operators. Qualcomm invested $200m into KT Freetel in order to insure HDR trials next year.

None of this means that HDR wont be a success....however I would like to see the day that Qualcomm makes an announcement and broad industry support (like Cisco) is behind them.

Does anyone know if QCOM has the ability to manufacture base station units for HDR? I thought I remember that they didnt sell the HDR portion of infrastructure....but they may have been only referring to the R&D.
