As a long time long, I can say:

A better ORB story than Iona. On Visibroker alone, Inprise deserves a far better market cap than Iona.

Better and more standards based Windows development tools than Microsoft's own. Delphi is a better RAD dev
app than
VB, and it is more source compatible between versions than VB. It is also more source compatible between Win
3.1 and
Win32. Borland C++ was C++ draft standard compliant 2 years before Microsoft C was ANSI C compliant!
C++ Builder
is at least 5 years ahead of Visual C++.

Far better Java development tools than Forte. Instead of Forte being 4 times higher in market cap when Sun took
them out,
it should have been reversed.

Interbase, the best medium load database in the business.

And last but not least, they are now targeting the Linux market. Kids coming out of school today will not settle for
primitive
70's editors such as EMACS, and gcc command line compilers. Borland is the only credible company to offer an
alternative
and the market is recognzing this.

In short, the best software tools house in the history of computer science is finally getting its shot on an open playing
field.
The sky is the limit.
