Rhombic Corporation On Track to Reach Silicon Carbide Wafer Industry Milestone by January 2000
VANCOUVER, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 3, 1999-- Rhombic Corporation (OTCBB: NUKE) is pleased to announce that the company has received several positive SIMS (Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry) analyst reports for its Silicon Carbide Wafers.

The latest reports using Rhombic's world patented (field enhanced diffusion using optical activation) are very exciting. The Silicon Carbide Wafer purification project is on track and expects to reach a wafer industry commercial milestone very early in January 2000. The company will be able to decrease all three of the wafer contaminates by a factor of 2 (50%).

Rhombic Corporation's focus is to penetrate the silicon carbide wafer industry with wafers that have a longer lifetime and effectiveness than present wafer technology, The Rhombic technology is being used to purify the silicon carbide wafers of the impurities. Reducing the impurities in the wafers would give them an improved effectiveness with a longer life span, and simplify the construction of devices.

According to the 1999 Semiconductor and Wafer Industry Report what is needed most in industry are wafers of larger size and purity. The report also states that silicon carbide (SiC) is poised to take over large segments of the industry for high temperature and high power electronics. Semiconductor wafers and substrates form the basis of the $800 billion worldwide electronics industry. Semiconductors have given rise to a proliferation of new products for information based economies. This key technology driver accounts for 30% of the economic growth in the U.S. alone.

Rhombic Corporation also announces that it has designed a state of the art second generation field enhanced diffusion device for advanced research of N-type diamond semiconductor material. Both the testing and research are on track.

N-type diamond has great potential as semiconductor material. Not only does it have a high electrical resistivity, but it has other unique properties such as the hardness, the excellent thermal conductivity, the high radiation resistance, and the high resistance to chemical attack. It is the ultimate semiconductor material for the future of microelectronics. N-type material is viewed by the scientific community as being a basic building block of the diamond electronic industry.
