Krugerrand 2000 coins exceed all expectations

Business Day, 25 Nov 1999, p 21
South Africa's Rand Refinery has announced that more Krugerrands have been exported since the international launch of the Krugerrand 2000 gold bullion coins in October 1999 than in any year since 1985. Worldwide sales of the Krugerrand 2000 gold bullion coins have already exceeded the original target of 25 000 oz, and it seems likely that the buying run will continue for some time. The positive sentiment in the gold market and fears about the Y2K bug have helped to drive up sales. The Krugerrand remains the world's most widely held and widely traded gold bullion coin.
