Hi Jay,

A little background on the ATHM situation. Starting in August of 1997 and ending Sept. '99, George Gilder included ATHM among his ascendant telecosm technologies. The company was removed because it was misdirected from a pipe shop to a content whore. Perhaps I'm wording it a tad strong, but in essence, @Home hopes to catch the hearts and minds of some slice of the Internet audience that I can't come close to relating to. I.e. those who really still want the passive spoon fed TV model. Why anyone would is beyond me.

As far as @Home's compelling technological advantage goes, in one man's opinion, they are throwing it away, by trying to adapt the dated infotainment format of the dinosaur media giants. Perhaps some @Home users can chime in here. Is the splash screen avoidable? Or have they used AOLs convention of making you creep through all their advertising garbage.

I'm on Roadrunner and delighted. They operate completely in the background and I have never seen their site. Don't have an need or interest. This is the way the Net should be presented.

Ciao, Ray
