PATNA, DEC.4. The wiz kid is now the youngest postgraduate in the world. Tathagat Avtar Tulsi, who is still a minor, has obtained his M.Sc. degree in physics from the Patna University.
Tathagat, who set records at the matriculation and graduation levels also, is just over 11 years and 10 months old and took just about six months preparation for taking his M.Sc. examinations conducted by the Patna University in August last. He came out with flying colours in the results that were declared earlier this week obtaining a first class.
Tathagat secured 71 per cent marks but complained that the evaluators had deliberately given him marks less than what he had deserved to prevent him from topping the list. He asserted that his aggregate percentage should have been no less than 78 per cent.
He became the youngest matriculate by passing the CBSE examination in 1997 at the tender age of nine years and six months. With a first class and precisely a year later, he set the second world record by securing his degree with honours in physics from the Patna University.
Obviously, Tathagat overcame several impediments in taking the M.Sc. examinations, thanks to the intervention of the Governor. As per the Governor's direction, Tathagat went through a screening test, in which too he obtained a first class, and ensured his special permission to take the M.Sc. finals without going through the two-year curriculum. |
