Hmmmm, that makes sense to me. Announcement on the 29th and no shipment till 2000.

It would make sense that Intel required a no Athlon policy till year end for more favorable pricing, and GTW has every intention to abide by that policy. Or perhaps they wanted to ship Athlon earlier based on the initial contract from Intel being void since they could not deliver the promised Coppermine. Intel changed their mind by threatening a lawsuit? Pure speculation but it does make some sense.
