11/18/99 article from accountacy age.
Business intelligence vendor QueryObject Systems has launched a free front-end product, QueryObject Analyzer, in an attempt to latch on to the Internet's ability to make information available across and beyond the enterprise.

Traditional licensing models that restrict the licensee to a specified number of simultaneous users, break down in the face of a user population that is theoretically infinite.

But at last week's Data Warehousing 99 show, QueryObject Systems said adding extra Analyzer users would cost nothing, though it would continue to charge for the server portion of its product according to server size.

'Analyzer is an easy-to-use, browser-based tool that's ideal for occasional users,' QueryObject chairman Bob Thompson said.

For those who do have multiple data marts, Cognos was promoting DecisionStream, a tool for managing and maintaining sets of marts. Other announcements included Ardent Software's launch of Enterprise Information Infrastructure, a tool-set allowing structured data of the type stored in data warehouses to be easily combined with unstructured data.

This means that an FD looking at columns of figures summarising the relationship with a supplier can immediately refer to the relevant contract, even though the figures are in the data warehouse and the contract is a word-processor document stored elsewhere.

Not familiar with the trade show quoted.
