Gad, now I am getting shy. My feeling (only feeling) is that the financial markets is drastically changing; 24 months ago very few non-professionals would be passing stock ideas on such far flung set of countries as discussed on this thread.
Once Instinet.com is on line, and we have E*Trade in Japan, Hong Kong, London, Frankfurt, we would be trading around the clock on equity of most important stocks around the clock. Money will move from place to place, with larger effects than the hedge funds could ever have managed. Governments will have to take this global small investor capital flow into account when making and presenting policies. The show just started.
Another issue, how long can capital gains tax be around in this global market?
Do not want to write books. But am reading a good one "Against the Gods - the remarkable story of risk" by Peter L. Bernstein. The book is a world best seller. The author is a money manager. Well reviewed by New York Times, WSJ, Business Week, Economist, Worth, John Kenneth Galbraith. It is a fun book. |
