The Samsung press at the time said that this would begin to yield LCDs in 2001... there was no talk from them about any fix for near-term availability. I think this was a strategic move to develop a long term fix to the LCD problems, not a tactical fix.

Clearly DELL's investment may give them better leverage on allocated parts but that was not the intent of the deal.
