Another positive PC World RDRAM review!

PC WORLD December 1999 issue, page 61:
"HP's Vectra handily won the multitasking test: we attribute this to its RDRAM (Rambus) memory.
This memory type, which debuted in September, is designed to transfer information through the
memory bus at up to twice the rate of PC-100 SDRAM. For business users, this PC's multitasking
speed is a big plus."
page 62:
"HP describes the $ 2648 Vectra as strong on manageability -- but its multitasking abilities seem
equally impressive. The configuration, priced only $ 200 more than similar Pentium III-600
systems (mostly because of RDRAM costs more than SDRAM), includes a 17-inch monitor, a 27
GB hard drive, and a CD-Rewritable drive. Given its advantages, this machine is well worth the
extra cost."
Please note this computer is less than Compaq's $ 3300 Presario 5900Z, which comes with
SDRAM. Also, on the mulitasking chart on page 60, the HP scored 229 seconds compared to the
slower Compaq, which had a score of 323 seconds. This test compares how long applications take
to complete their tasks. PC World also states that for corporate users, you don't have to pay over $
3,000 to get a great machine on page 62 in reference to the HP computer.
