Koskinen was on CNN today saying something that I don't recall hearing before. Wolf Blitzer asked him whether we'd know on January 1 whether or not we were toast. (My phrasing, not his.) Koskinen said that no, it would take a while. If the power grids fail, that would take until Wednesday or Thursday. He thought that he and his crew should be able to make a pretty thorough assessment of the situation by the second weekend in January, not that everything would be fixed by then, but that the situation would be pretty clear. No further discussion. Karen
