By definition, the CD audio files should always be better quality than the MP3 files. Some of the folks on this board can outline the technical reasons.

If you are getting perceived poorer quality from CD audio playback (or the equivalent files on your HDD) than from MP3 playback, you may have a problem with the CD player mechanism, the MP3 ripper software or the sound card.
