T is not "pulling" anything, though the market may see it that way.

The exclusivity agreement with ATHM has a finite lifetime and only the severely naive thought that they would stay exlusive after that point.

AT&T has already stated that they will likely be open to other ISP's after the exclusivity agreements expire. This is just further proof in the direction that government regulated "open access" (which I feel would have destroyed cable internet and ATHM) is not necessary.

ATHM will get competition. ATHM needs competition. The market is capable of grasping the concept eventually.

Even though it is not directly comparable take a look at NSOL after they lost their monopoly.
