A Hub System, which provides traffic management and network access. The Hub System's primary functions include:
Traffic multiplexing. Network connection gateways. Routing for network management. Wireless access control for each sector, including bandwidth-request arbitration.
A Hub Outdoor Unit (HODU), which includes the radio frequency (RF) transmitter and receiver as well as a sectored integral antenna. The HODU interfaces to the Hub System at an intermediate frequency. A broad range of bandplans is supported.
A Customer Service System (CSS), which provides software-configurable multiple-user interfaces, Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) adaptation, modem functions, and Customer Outdoor Unit-monitoring (CODU) intelligence.
A Customer Outdoor Unit (CODU), which is similar in design to the HODU. Differences include a compact non-sectored antenna and interfaces to the CSS.
An Operations and Maintenance System (OMS), which is a standards-based, scaleable and distributed architecture, accommodating a wide range of network sizes. Some of the features include:
Management of all elements of the OnDemand system. Remote access to fault status, configuration management, service provisioning, performance status, data usage, installation parameters, sub-element inventory, software download coordination, and more. Wizard tools, map graphics, and customizable reports. OnDemand paging where alarms are configured to page a designated operator. lucent.com
