For some strange reason, many people sell the winners and hold the losers. If you have ever read Dr. Elder's book he goes into detail about this vicious cycle.... lots of people do it and it is worth reading to get a detailed Physiological explanation of the phenomenon. I think every investor has held on to, and averaged down on a loser...it is part of the game. You either learn not to do it or get knock out of the game. I keep a one dog (EAGI) in my account to remind me not to get trapped in this cycle. Every time I open my account I see this dog and it reminds me never to play without a predetermined stop.
