[RBOC's added lines]

Hi Pat,

As you know, I have been on the AMTX ride since 12/96. This am when I read of Bell Atlantic's 11% increase in Q1 earnings being explained as mostly from 'demand for 2nd phone lines', it raised a question that I cannot remember anyone ever commenting about. Up until now, lots of people after having some exposure to the Web, order an additional line to dedicate to Web usage. If I had ADSL at my home it would eliminate the need for that extra line as the tecnology allows for my surfin' the net and still conductiong my regular telephone incoming and outgoing calls. It seems to me that massive deployment of ADSL would halt the customers ordering of added lines and in fact be the cause of many lines being canceled. When I get my ADSL, I will surely cancel my extra line...could this be a major reason for the RBOC's dragging their feet?

Regards...
Ed...
