Elmer, McDonalds invited both the drink makers to a competition and Coke won/lost. In this deal we surmise that intel purchased sockets for their processors on Gateway mobos in a pre-emptive manner. they may have Dell in their pocket and gateway hinted and wiggled and Intel made a deal. Both dell and Gateway are now suffering the consequences of these deals since they are going to miss the Christmas season's peak and hit a mere average. I am given to believe that the Athlon is shipping in volume and being bought in volume. A you say mere debate here will not determine the outcome of the Gateway/Intel deal, it's failures, legalities and other shortcomings. We are simply not privy to the inside details.....however it looks like some contract was signed as gateway tried to get out of it and intel demurred. Apart from that we are in the dark. Bill
