Actually Runner, Koskinen is one of the few that I actually DO TRUST in this administration.

He's not widely known as being a political hack, but rather someone with fine managerial and people skills. Someone who would provide some measure of credibility to the office he holds.

But no matter what someone says, we'll always have the '49rs, the Kens, and so many others who will find the worst possible scenario to predict.

I mean, here is a guy who is at the center of the maelstrom, heading up trying to get a feel for Y2K readiness both here and abroad, with all of the potential resouces of the government available to him, and Rose has the gall to call him a lying piece of doggie doo.

I will tell you something.... during the times that Koskinen showed up in front our groups at WDCY2K, people let him have it with the very particular questions. He was treated with respect,.. but no one pulled any punches. And he seemed pretty genuine in his responses, with little evasive speech.

The problem with Koskinen job's is that so much of what he is told is often self-reported by companies and/or countries.

So if there is a failure, there is going to be hell to pay from the top down, and US corporations will be facing a flurry of litigation.

Also, I think that the 3 day delay he is referring to is the time that it would take for them to be absolutely sure that no particular area lost power due to Y2K related failures, and not weather related.

He is on the record as believing there will be no major outages, although isolated outages may occur for brief periods of time.

Most of us living in the snow and ice zone already know how vulnerable we are to the elements. Here in Montgomery county, MD there was a 4 day power outage last winter from an ice storm... and hey... we're still here and kicking.

But yeah.. I don't trust too many folks that work for Clinton, but somehow Koskinen strikes me as a man of high integrity.

Either that or he is a better actor than his boss... and no one is that good.

Regards,

Ron
