Bill, what do you think about Y2K and foreign economies?

The U.S. looks great for Y2K. We panicked, we fixed it, game over. The third world doesn't look so hot. The bloke in charge of Y2K planning for Paraguay has recently stated that they are completely underfunded and unready, and their financial systems may shut down. Russia is even scarier.

The Asian financial crisis had a major (even exaggerated) effect on U.S. markets. Of course, it also gave us three drops in rates, and Paraguay isn't Asia. But at this point, could you picture a major effect on U.S. markets due to foreign Y2K problems?

I am considering converting most of my 'trading' portfolio into cash, after this fantastic runup, to prepare for opportunities that 3rd world Y2K problems may provide.
