"This seems like a useful source. Do you have a link?" I have links to 5 distributors that give today's disk drive prices but not to the historical pricing. I compile prices each week and calculate the changes from my previous documentation. The data is on eight interlinked spreadsheets. It is an experiment to see if the pricing relates to the supply/demand ratio that has been so high in previous quarters. So far things look good this quarter but we all expected improvement this quarter. Last year I collected less data. However, the data I collected showed a fairly steep drop in prices in mid December and then steady prices until late January. The next couple of weeks should be interesting.
