Christine, I see you're still doing that "distort my post with gross oversimplified negative slant" thing you love to do. To suggest my acknowledged appreciation to the Seattle police equates to supporting police brutality is odd at best. If there was inappropriate behavior, as you seem so absolutely positive of. I feel pretty confident the investigative mechanisms in place to deal with that sort of thing would work reasonably well. Many of the cops worked 18 hour shifts during the vandalistic week which plagued beautiful Seattle during the WTO conference. Condemning an entire group of people for one act of wrong (even if it is true) is as wrong as condemning every protestor for the hundreds which vandalized the city of Seattle. For the most part, the police force was overly restrained and polite during the protests. My conclusion comes from watching many hours of local live television and radio broadcasts. The filtered version you were given by CNN and others may have given you a different perspective. Most of the protestors were members of a coalition calling themselves the "Direct Action Network". It's members include such deeply intellectual groups as "Earth First". The "Sierra Club" along with a bunch of Fascist Neo- communist organization in Europe. To call these groups "intellectual" is nonsensical at best. If you believe the groups representing organized labor care a hoot about the conditions of the working poor around the world. Think again. All they care about is protecting American jobs from foreign third world labor. Nothing wrong with having that goal, but let's at least try and be real about it? They're protectionists, pure and simple. I thank God we have dedicated caring men and women who work in uniform protecting the citizens of Seattle. Without their interjection on day one, it's likely the protestors in Seattle would have turned it into a full scale riot. And ruined the city for years to come by inflecting great harm on the local merchants. Look Christine, it's obvious you're still into that "distort my post" thing. And since it's the holidays I really don't feel like getting into one of those Christine ugly arguments. So I'll say goodbye for a few weeks and maybe see you sometime in January.
