[Second lines]

Ed --

I doubt it's the loss of residential second-line customers as much as the loss of business customers on the expensive leased lines. See Steve Macica's posts for a good explanation. It's only a matter of time before the first telco starts a major roll-out and then the rest will have to follow simply to be competitive. Can you sell gas for $5.00 a gallon when your main competitor sells it for $1.00? It's getting the first telco to give up the $5.00 customer that's the challenge, but with MCI's stated intentions of attacking the local market, how long can they drag their feet?

Cheers!

Pat
