New cable modem, works great so far! (After 2+ years of advertising Adelphia is FINALLY following through.)

When trying to share through my home lan however, I have run up hard against the limits of my PC skills. To get the modem working, I had to essentially give up the lan NIC - couldn't get both the lan NIC and the cable modem NIC to coexist. I think they are going after the same IRQ. As I understand it, I need 2 NICs for either the MS ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) or the Sygate solution.

While I am tempted to just order a Webramp 700s (or something similar but better) and be done with it, it seems like installing 2 NICs should not be an insurmountable task.

Pointers on how to finesse IRQ issues with a BH6 and Win98se appreciated.

Or, does anybody have a better pick than a webramp 700s for cable modems? I'd rather have one that could coordinate with 1 to 2 dialup 56k links as additional bandwidth or backup with some allowances for xDSL should that ever arrive. Such a complete set of features may be a dream, or horribly expensive.

Thank you,
pae
