NW: Not that it matters very much to anyone except me, but it is one of my personal rules that I do not post on this board unless I have a holding in COMPAQ. If I have a holding it is because I think that COMPAQ is going to make me money in the short-term and medium-term, at least on a trading basis. It has made me money since I posted a few weeks ago that I bought at $19 7/8ths and $20 1/4 (not to mention the small trade on Friday at $25 7/8ths). I have also been accused by El and others of being too bullish about its future prospects. If you want you can go through my past posts and see what I have said about earnings in 2000 being in excess of $2.

It is too bad that you have joined those who accuse critics of COMPAQ of bad fatih. I take it as a back-handed form of compliment respecting the force of my criticism.

All those of you who had huge proportions of your capital in COMPAQ when it was in the high 40's and were being told that the DEC acquisition was on schedule and revenues would reach $50 billion "by year 2000" would be a lot better off today if you had scrutinised the public statements of COMPAQ a little more critically than you did. I was also one of those who believed that in a clash over the facts as between "outsider" critics and "insider" company officials it was more rational to rely on the company. I made a mistake which I won't make again.

"rudedog" claims to get superior information from COMPAQ insiders whose hindsight is almost perfect. Comparing the 190 degree difference in some of his judgements then and now (last year and this) I can see why they call them "spin doctors".
