It used to be that 1/2 MB ROM and 256k RAM were considered
prohibitively large requirements for most embedded systems,
and certainly too large for small "deeply" embedded systems,
e.g., automobile applications. Is this still not the case?

The RTOS vendors require approx. 1/10 that size ROM. Isn't that a considerable competitive advantage?
