City of Baltimore's Bureau of Treasury Management To Implement Unisys e-@ction Revenue Solution
Unisys Integrated Solution to Streamline Payment Collection, Enhance Customer Service
BLUE BELL, Pa,--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 6, 1999-- Unisys Corporation today announced a contract to implement a Unisys e-@ction Revenue solution for the City of Baltimore's Bureau of Treasury Management. The Unisys solution, targeted for completion in first quarter 2000, is designed to enhance the process of collecting and administering the more than one million documents and payments handled by the bureau each year.
The solution will help the bureau automate payments processing for property taxes, water bills, parking fines and other miscellaneous city taxes and services that are received through the mail or over the counter.
Using a local workstation or a secured web server, bureau employees will now be able to store and retrieve archived images of payment documents, batch accounting reports and related correspondence from their desktops. As a result, they will be able to handle customer inquiries more quickly and efficiently than in the past.
``The new system developed by Unisys will automate all of our processes, helping the bureau to improve efficiency while delivering better service to our customers, the citizens of Baltimore,' said Louise Green, chief, Bureau of Treasury Management.
In addition, the solution will help the office to improve cash flow by depositing payments more quickly, enabling the bureau to sustain revenue growth without increasing staff. The Unisys solution will also provide enhanced account analysis and research capabilities.
``The project at the City of Baltimore is just one more example of Unisys success in serving tax, revenue and labor agencies at the state and local level,' said Barry Lurie, managing principal of the Unisys Tax, Revenue and Labor practice. ``To state and local government organizations, Unisys offers deep domain expertise, technical experience and the ability to put the pieces together, creating a complete solution.'
The solution includes the Unisys imaging solution, which stores and provides instant access to document images, and J&B Software's TMS IMAGE, which automates payment processing. The NDP 500 document sorter is a Unisys e-@ction Payment Solution that will handle the physical processing.
Unisys also will integrate an automated cashiering functionality provided by System Innovators, Inc. and automated mail opening equipment from Opex Corporation. Local IT service providers TRESP Associates and Full-Circle Solutions, Inc. will supply hardware and network installation support as well as training services. |
