Rick,
All IMO...
>>>Why do you say widespread use will never happen?
Cost benefit is not there. Consumers will not pay and CC companies and banks aren't losing enough. Percentage loss is hard to estimate, but I would say it is less than .001%.
>>>Will other technologies overtake biometrics? or what? Please give specifics if you can.
I think that in most situations passwords in conjucntion with smart cards may be all it takes. Biometrics will have it's place, just not the widespread use that most here predict. I am not an expert though. I could be wrong. My gut and common sense tells me that it just won't happen.
>>>When did the window open and when did it close? Why has biometrics lost it's chance? Please explain and give specifics if you can.
One scenario is when e-banking and bill paying, started it's run(the last two or three years), we would have needed widespread fraud and people losing money, national exposure, etc., this never happened. Terrorism is another, but IMO and I am happy to say, not enough people have died, in order to make the government and the airlines pay up. I can think of other examples, but it is early.
Rick the above is my opinion, I feel that long term money here is dead for at least 2 to 3 years. I read alot about technology and enjoy the people, their opinions and interaction here, also IDX is a great short term trading stock.
Have a great week,
